Start with the decision
Before comparing products, we define the actual decision. The question isn’t necessarily “Which replacement window should I buy?” It may be “Do I need replacement windows at all?” Whenever it is reasonable, we compare buying with repairing, waiting, choosing a less expensive alternative or doing nothing.
Use original and authoritative sources
We prefer primary sources for facts that can be obtained directly, including government agencies, regulatory filings, manufacturers’ specifications, warranty documents, utility rates, financial institutions and academic research. We use independent testing when comparative work provides information specifications cannot.
Run the numbers
If a decision depends on cost, we try to show the calculation. That can include upfront price, recurring charges, operating costs, maintenance, financing, likely useful life, replacement cost and available incentives. We identify important assumptions so you can decide whether they fit your situation.
Separate facts from judgment
A specification can be verified. Whether a feature is worth paying $400 more for is a judgment. We try not to blur the two.
Commercial independence
LifePrime does not currently use affiliate links or accept payment for product placement or recommendations. If that changes, we will disclose the relationship before introducing it.
Artificial intelligence
LifePrime may use software and artificial-intelligence tools to assist with research organization, calculations, transcription, editing or production. AI-generated claims are not treated as sources. Published factual claims and calculations remain subject to editorial review.
Updates and corrections
Prices, rates, products, rebates and policies change. Articles include a publication or update date. Material errors are corrected under our Corrections Policy.
